Global Journal of Allergy   Commentary  A Commentary: Is Context an Important Consideration in Asthma? Asthma is a well known and high impact global health problem [1]. It shares, along with other prevalent entities, a number of not insignificant difficulties in the delivery of health care needs for it’s control [2]. From a clinical Point of view, the use of inhaled steroid medications (Clinical Efficacy measured as: No. of asthmatics patients controlled /No. of asthmatics patients treated) have proven their worth and are the mainstay of treatment in many Published Guidelines about asthma; and deservedly so. However, from a public health point of view, the clinical effectiveness of such strategies (Clinical Effectiveness measured as: No. of asthmatics patients controlled. Total No. of asthmatic patients) remains a problem around the world [1,3,4]. Many draw backs seems to exist in this over all lack of capacity to deliver comprehensive health care to asthm

Journal of HIV for Clinical and Scientific Research   Research Article   Oral Health Status and Anthropometric Conditions among HIV Infected Adolescents on Antiretroviral Therapy in Mozambique   Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV infection) is considered an important public health problem in developed and developing countries. Worldwide, there are approximately 33 million people living with HIV/AIDS and in Mozambique (2009), it was estimated that 11.5% among adults aged 15–49 years were affected [1,2]. According to the National Strategic HIV and AIDS Response Plan 2010–2014, multiple sexual partners alone with a low condom usage are the main causes of HIV infection in Mozambique and contribute to approximately 24% to 29% of all new HIVinfections in the country [3]. The oral lesions associated with HIV that may occur in over half of HIV/AIDS patients are well established. Among these lesions the most common are HIV gingivitis and periodontitis [4-6],

Imaging Journal of Clinical and Medical Sciences   Clinical Image   Giant renal Cyst into Giant Laparotomic Hernia   82-year-old male patient previously twice subjected to surgical intervention for peritonitis, and to two subsequent interventions for giant incisional hernia. After the final intervention, the meshpad was removed, due to infection, but the giant eventration persisted. Eight years later, when anaemia was observed, a gastroenterology examination was performed and sigmoid cancer diagnosed. Subsequent CT scans revealed a giant right renal cyst measuring 29 × 21 cm, within the evisceration. In response, a left hemicolectomy was performed, with resection and marsupialisation of the renal cyst, and repair of the incisional hernia. The patient evolved well and was discharged eight days after surgery. http://www.peertechzimaging.com/IJCMS-1-114.php

Global Journal of Anesthesiology   Editorial   Combined Techniques in Difficult Airway Management   Difficult or failed tracheal intubation is an important cause of mortality and morbidity. Approximately 30% of anesthesia-related deaths are caused by the complications of difficult airway management. Also, 85% of respiratory complications result in brain damage or death [1]. Awake tracheal intubation is the most appropriate method for protection of airway reflexes in patients, who are expected or known to have difficult intubation. However, the use of video laryngoscope in awake patients in a way similar to the use of classic direct laryngoscope, which requires hanging of epiglottis or the use of fiber optic bronchoscope through nose, disturbs patients and complicates the procedure by causing gag reflex and mucosal bleeding.    http://www.peertechz.com/Anesthesiology/GJA-1-106.php

Global Journal of Cancer Therapy   Review Article   Genetic Polymorphisms and Cisplatin- Related Nephrotoxicity   Abstract: Cisplatin is one of the most widely applied antineoplastic agents used to treat different types of solid tumours. However, its use is limited by serious side- effects including nephrotoxicity. Cisplatin accumulates in proximal tubule and forms nephrotoxins that causes proximal cell injury and thereby leads to nephrotoxicity. Cisplatin enters these proximal cells by organic transporter molecules (OCT). Genetic polymorphism of these molecules and other membrane transport proteins that regulate cisplatin accumulation may influence cisplatin- related nephrotoxic outcome. Variations of DNA repair enzymes, e.g., ERCC1, eIF3, MMS 19L, and metabolic enzymes involved in platinum detoxification, e.g., GSTT1, GSTM1 may also have important role in the generation of nephrotoxicity. Polymorphisms of these genes can be used as predictive tools for su

Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine and Cardiology Editorial Exercise Echocardiography in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a relatively frequent genetic disease that affects 1/500 human beings. Main problems with this disease are the development of symptoms in 10-20% of affected individuals, and the increased risk of sudden cardiac death (SCD) in a subset of patients with the disease. It is important to clarify the cause of symptoms and to assess the risk of sudden death in HCM because we do have therapies to relief these problems. http://www.peertechz.com/Cardiovascular-Medicine-Cardiology/JCMC-1-109.php

Global Journal of Medical and Clinical Case Reports     Case Report   Angiokeratoma in Fabry Disease: Diagnostic but not Treatment Effectiveness Marker  Fabry disease (FD) is a rare X-linked recessive disorder caused by mutations in the gene encoding the lysosomal enzyme α-galactosidase A (α -Gal A). The resulting deficient α -Gal A activity leads to progressive accumulation of glycosphingolipids, predominantly globotriaosylceramide (GL-3) in the lysosomes of many different cell types throughout the body [1]. The manifestations of this complex metabolic disease are progressive and multysistemic, culminating in life-threatening renal, cardiac and cerebrovascular manifestations [2]. http://www.peertechz.com/Clinical-Case-Reports/GJMCCR-1-112.php

Journal of Addiction Medicine and Therapeutic Science   Editorial Addiction in Anaesthesiologists and its Implications on Anaesthesia The problem of addiction and substance abuse among physicians has been reported as early as 1869 [1]. But, medical community is generally reluctant to accept and report the problem of addiction among health care professionals. Anaesthesiologist by virtue of their work profile and easy accessibility of potentially addicting drugs are at an increased risk of drug addiction. The incidence of abuse is estimated to be around 1% in faculty members and 1.6% of residents in training programs [2]. As high as 1/4th of the medical professionals reported for abuse are anaesthesiologists. http://www.peertechz.com/Addiction-Medicine-Therapeutic-Science/JAMTS-1-103.php

Global Journal of Stem Cell Biology and Transplantation Editorial     Expectations of Epigenetic Research Studies Focusing on Mesenchymal Stem Cells Epigenetic alternations are not associated with any changing the base sequence of DNA, but are closely related to phenome together with genome [1]. Most of them are determined differently under various external and internal influences and, even if abnormal, memorized over individual life. In the ontogeny that starts from a totipotent stem cell such as a fertilized egg, the epigenetic alternations occur in good order along with cell differentiation process toward peculiar epigenetic patterns of individual cell series. In contrast, a reverse artificial phenomenon induced by transduction of 4 genes, Oct3/4, Sox2, Klf4 and c-Myc (induced progenitor and stem cells: iPS cells) is known to accompany with significant abnormalities of DNA methylations, one of the epigenetic regulation mechanisms, fearing possible abn

Global Journal of Medical and Clinical Case Reports Case Report Vesical Calculi with Utero Cervico Vaginal Prolapse Vesical calculi are not commonly seen with utero vaginal prolapse. Calculi may be missed unless ultrasonography or X-ray is done. If not diagnosed problems can occur during surgery and post operatively. If vesical calculi are removed vaginally during anterior colporrhaphy, it may lead to fistula formation. Suprapubic cystotomy and removal of calculi done during vaginal surgery for genital prolapse seems better option. Global Journal of Medical and Clinical Case Reports Editorial Launching Global Journal of Medical and Clinical Case Reports During the recent past, the biomedical publishing field has witnessed a decline in the publishing of the case reports by many journals. This trend is not particularly helpful for the medical community at large. The main reason for the above trend is the low citation value of the case reports, which reduces the overall impact factor of the journals. This competition of the journals for journal ranking by the yardstick of impact factor has resulted in many major journals abandoning the due share of space to the case reports. In fact, some reputable journals have even decided not to accept case reports anymore or they have made the criteria of accepting the case reports so strict that no case report finds space there [1-3]. http://www.peertechz.com/Clinical-Case-Reports/GJMCCR-1-107.php
