The association of bacterial vaginosis and   Gardnerella vaginalis   with a history of adverse pregnancy outcomes May 10-14 2011, Philippine International Convention Centre, Manila, Philippines Stemmet MC* and Africa CWJ Introduction:   Pre-term delivery (PTD) accounts for approximately 70%-75% of perinatal and childhood morbidity and mortality. Numerous studies have demonstrated the association of Bacterial vaginosis (BV) with adverse pregnancy outcomes. BV has been identified as the most common vaginal condition in women of reproductive age and results from a shift from high concentrations of   Lactobacillus spp . in the vaginal flora to an overpopulation of Gram-negative and anaerobic bacteria including   Gardnerella vaginalis .   http://www.peertechz.com/Conference-Organizations-Scientific-Institutions.php

6th ASIA Pacific Biotechnology Congress and 40th PSM Convention and Scientific Meeting

A comparison of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with culture for the detection of   Streptococcus agalactiae   in vaginal swabs from women with a history of preterm delivery May 10-14 2011, Philippine International Convention Centre, Manila, Philippines Kaambo E* and Africa CWJ Introduction:   Streptococcus agalactiae   (group B streptococci (GBS), emerged in the 1960s as a significant human pathogen that causes neonatal sepsis and meningitis. The presence of GBS in pregnant women is regarded to be the leading cause of neonatal mortality and morbidity in South Africa and the world. GBS is a bacterial pathogen frequently isolated from the genitourinary tracts of about 35% of healthy adult women. Women who are colonized with GBS might also develop pregnancy-associated infections including urinary tract infection, bacteremia, and postpartum endometritis.Early detection is imperative in order to avoid adverse pregnancy outcomes.   http://www.peertechz.com/Conference-Organizatio

Archives of Nursing Practice and Care CASE REPORT Care of Older Residents: One Man among Many Women     Gender differences. Background:   Men and women are differently bodily, as well as have distinctive ways of thinking; consequently, their health care needs are not always the same. For some older adults who enter long-term care facilities, the impact of gender upon their care may not be recognized by staff. Research questions:   Two questions guided this project: (1) what is known about gender specific differences that may influence resident care in long-term care facilities? And (2) what recommendations might be made specific to residents’ care in long-term care facilities based upon identified gender differences? http://www.peertechz.com/Nursing-Practice-Care/ANPC-1-102.php

Multiple Autoimmune Syndrome with Vitiligo, Autoimmune Thrombocytopenia and Autoimmune Dermoepidermal Bullous Dermatosis

Image
International Journal of Dermatology and Clinical Research Symblepharon of the left eye. CASE REPORT Multiple auto-immune syndrome is defined by the coexistence of at least three different autoimmune diseases. Immune genetic predisposition and abnormalities of humeral and cell-mediated immunity seems to be implicated in their genesis. In this observation, we describe a combination of three autoimmune diseases in the same patient namely vitiligo evolving since childhood, autoimmune dermo epidermal bullous dermatosis and autoimmune thrombocytopenia. The discovery of such associations may limit the therapeutic arsenal. And temporal sequence indicates that long-term surveillance of these patients is necessary to watch the occurrence of another autoimmune disease. http://www.peertechz.com/Dermatology-Clinical-Research/IJDCR-1-105.php

Implementation and Implication of Ignoring Small Polyps at Colonoscopy

Image
Archives of Clinical Gastroenterology Research Article Background and Aim:   CT colonography has promoted a new paradigm, that up-to 2 polyps ≤5mm can be left in-situ and followed. In contrast, endoscopists identify and remove all colorectal polyps, regardless of size. We evaluated whether and how endoscopists might implement a plan of ignoring small polyps in clinical practice.  http://www.peertechz.com/Clinical-Gastroenterology/ACG-1-101.php
